Artists

Observations and experiences regarding the music of various artists will appear in this section.  Unless otherwise stated, the events and opinions detailed in the pages below are entirely my own.

Despite having attended an unknowingly large number of concerts in my younger days, there remain a number of artists I regret not having seen. Some are still with us, and some are not.  Some of the groups I followed closely as a teenager either never made it to the states or barely made it, leaving little or no opportunity to see them perform in a live venue. In other cases, the window of opportunity closed more quickly than expected.

Many current bands do not appear to tour as often as their counterparts of the 60s and 70s did; this in itself caused me to miss certain shows with the idea that “I’ll see them next time around.”  Well…sometimes there is no next time.  So, if you have opportunity to see an artist you enjoy or admire, just strike while the iron is hot and get there.  Some chances in life do not have a return engagement.  This applies to many things in life, not just music, but I’ll wager you already knew that.

In sharing my ideas and experiences of particular musical artists and their work, there will be no form of hero worship or fawning upon the status of a so called celebrity, only an assessment of the artists work. Life in this world is temporary, as is celebrity; but true artistic creation, like an individual soul, does not suffer from such limitations.

Let us all search for those works which will define and reflect the best of what exists in all of us.
